The Tamil Nadu government is set to distribute Pongal gifts from Jan 9 to 13. Ration card holders with ‘Rice’ cards can get the gifts at the ration shops in the neighborhood.
The local ration shops have put up a notice that lists the area wise details of the distribution.
The Pongal gift will include Rs 1000 cash, and a kilo of rice, sugar, small packets (20 grams) of raisins, cardamom and cashew nuts.
It is distributed to help people cook sakkarai (sweet) pongal during the Pongal festival that falls on Jan 15.
