Hotel Sangeetha distributes food to convervancy workers, police personnel

Hotel Sangeetha in R.A. Puram is distributing freshly prepared lunch to some 150 people in the neighbourhood.

Every day, the food packets are given to civic workers, conservancy staff, police officers and daily wage workers in this area.

With support from Chennai Corporation, food packets are distributed outside this restaurant between 12 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.

Says Rajkumar, the manager at this restaurant, “As the conservancy staff and police officers are working day and night to prevent the virus spread, we wanted to help them in some way. So we are distributing food packets.”

He says they also provide food to daily wage workers and homeless people here.

Each food packet will have a variety rice, water bottle, orange and gooseberry. “Orange and gooseberry are given so that civic workers don’t feel nausea when at work.”

“We plan to continue this service through the lockdown,” the manager says.
