Rain lashes Mylapore 5.30 a.m. onwards

Rain has been lashing the Mylapore neighbourhood since 5.30 a.m. and continued till about 6.45 am. Thunder accompanied these unusual showers that greeted people as they woke up on Sunday morning, the first of the four-day intense lockdown.

In some places, power tripped and was later restored. Perhaps, TANGEDCO snapped the supply due to the strong winds.

In some other places, trees came crashing down and in houses which have mango trees, the fruits dropped down in large numbers.

For the past few days, day temperatures have been rising as the agni natchatram season is underway. The thunder showers have cooled the city and even past 7.30 am, thunder kept rolling.
