On Wednesday (Dec.30), members of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) were moving around R.A.Puram area with their party flags.
They were here to seek public support for their demand of 20% reservation for the Vanniyar community in government jobs and in the state’s education.
Said Arumugam, who coordinates the party operations in Mylapore, “We are seeking public support for our demand of 20 % reservation for Vanniyars. Several people have come forward to support us.”
“We have also got their signatures in a petition that explains our demand. Soon we will be submitting them at the Tahsildar office in Mylapore.”
He adds that they have also submitted similar petitions to Revenue Inspector and to the officials at Chennai Corporation’s zone 9 office.
