Police discourage people from gathering at temple tank on Aadi amavasyya

Police were posted on two sides of the tank of Sri Kapali Temple on Sunday to discourage people from gathering here to perform rituals on Aadi amavasyya day, a time to remember the departed.

Usually, a big crowd gathers on the east and west ends of the tank periphery to get the ritual undertaken.

The police put up banners asking people not to congregate in these zones.

Access to Sri Kapali Temple was also denied to people on Sunday.

  1. This makes me laugh. Why and how do the police in to this? Is this police raj? Are all the policemen nonbelievers? Or are they all Muslims or Christians? Some self-help group ought to have taken the initiative.
