Small groups celebrate India’s Independence Day in simple manner

Communities across Mylapore made time and space to hold simple events to mark India’s 75th Independence Day this August 15 morning. They had to respect the pandemic-time regulations that are in place currently.

A few students, staff and teachers took part in the flag hoisting at Lady Siavswami Ayyar Girls School ( photo below) .

Metres away, at R R Sabha, its staff did the same at their own event.

A few residents of Kalyan Nagar Association in Mandavelipakkam joined in hoisting the flag on its campus while children of an association for hearing impaired, met at the Nageswara Rao Park in Luz for their own event.

Raja Annamalaipuram Residents’  Association ( RAPRA) celebrated Independence Day  at GCC Park Seventh Main Road, R A Puram. Viswanathan, secretary, Mylapore Residents Welfare Association (MRWA) hoisted the national flag.

At the campus of St. Isabel’s Hospitals in Luz, students of the nursing school that is run here presented a colourful, snappy event after the flag was hoisted ( photo above) . A priest and nuns who work at this hospital also took part.

Saravana Bhavan’s outlet in Mylapore had a combo breakfast to offer, with sweet pongal given free for guests.

Flag hoisting events, simple and snappy were held in a few other places and campuses.
