What was once a large playground of Chennai Corporation is turning into a civil construction site and will soon be a different sight and create strange sounds to all motorists who move around this zone day in and day out.
The playground is at the far south end of R K Mutt Road in R A Puram, on one side facing Jesus Calls campus.
This is one of the work spots of Chennai Metro for its rail line between North Chennai and Adyar and beyond, with stops at Luz and Mandaveli. Underground work is planned from here.
Large equipment has been arriving here lately even as site offices have been set up. Traffic has not been affected but local youths now amuse themselves at the north quarter of this ground

Unlike western countries, india never cares or encourages sports. Taking over a play ground will be frowned upon by all in other countries. But in India we want all wins, tournaments, Olympics medal or Asian cup but there is no facilities. It sad play grounds are taken for collecting construction materials
