Civic workers clear Dr Ranga Road drains of muck. Again.

Chennai Corporation’s local units are making an effort to followup on the monsoon worries in areas where flooding was severe.

Dr Ranga Road and the two Dr Ranga Lanes have been given some attention the past many weeks since the area floods badly, and residents off the Lane located closer to Warren Road junction living with stagnated water for days.

On Tuesday morning, workers were seen clearing the silt and muck from the SWDs along Dr Ranga Road.

Earlier, pipes were laid at the Warren Road zone to enable smooth water flow from the Dr Ranga Lane; obviously, the local SWDs were chocked or the extensions had collapsed.

Community activists like Balasubramaniam of TAKSRA ( in R A Puram east) whose team has worked closely with GCC to ensure civic facilities are upgraded and renewed to prevent flooding say communities in areas like Dr Ranga Road can follow their example. “Residents must actively work with civic agencies to get work done. It works well.”
