A less polluted Bhogi . . .

This Bhogi, a day to symbolically rid of useless materials and burn them on the eve of the Pongal festival seemed to be rather a quiet one.

A quick check of a few areas of Mylapore indicated that the burning of stuff was done in some colonies and the air was not thick with smoke though the chill hung on till 7 a.m.

Giridharan Kesavan who has installed an air-quality check monitorĀ  at his residence in Abiramapuram says – Almost crystal-clear air in my locality. My monitor seems to agree!

In Palakkumanyam Nagar, off Luz Church Road little boys though burnt some waste and beat newly bought drums enjoying the fun even before dawn broke.
