Ration card holders began to queue at ration shops across Mylapore to get their Pongal bag of goodies that the state government has ordered be given for the festival.
The queues grew long as word went around that the goodies had arrived and, as was seen at the shop that hugs the Chitrakulam tank, one staffer chose to sit at a table in the open and record the card-holders check in to make things easy .
Each bag has 20 items – from rice and flour, to spices and ghee and sugarcane too.
