For ten years now, the Shri Purandaradasar Trust has at its core efforts to propagate the music compositions of Purandaradasa.
Its 10th anniversary began on February 19 with an awards event and a concert at Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz.
That evening, Vidya Kalyanaraman presented a concert and later, senior artistes were given the annual awards.
The artistes were Mudikondan Ramesh, Meera Sivaramakrishnan and K N Anuradha and organiser-curator S V S Mani. Two young artistes were also recognised for their talent that evening.
Concerts will be held at the Luz venue till Feb.23.
K. Ramakrishnan, trustee and secretary of this body says that it holds events through the year and a annual music contest for young music students who must present songs of Purandaradasa is part of the Trust’s calendar.
