The birth centenary celebrations of well-known social worker and community leader, late Sarojini Varadappan is to be held on March 12 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore, 6 p.m. onwards.
Mylapore Academy is hosting this event.
Retired judge S. Jagadeesan presides and Jayanthi Natarajan is the chief guest. Padma Venkatraman and Bhargavi Devendra will speak on Sarojini Varadappan, who was decorated with the Padma Bhushan award.
At this event, the Sarojini Varadappan centenary award will be presented to Padma Venkatraman for her contribution to women’s welfare. Other awards will also be given to Dr. Latha Rajendran ( for educational service) and Bhageerathy Ramamoorthy ( service to seniors and special children).
