Skanda, a publisher of books on classical music and dance has a new one released recently. It is titled – Melakarthas – The Gems of Carnatic Music.
It is written by Vidya Bhavani Suresh.
Vidya says in a note – this book aims to bring out the innate individuality of each raga. This book is the first part of a two-volume series, covering each of the 72 melakarthas of Carnatic music in detail. This volume covers the first 36 ragas – the shuddha madhyama melakarthas.
Vidya’s daughter, Harshitha Suresh has also contributed to this book that is published by Vidya’s husband, B. A. Suresh.
