Local units of political parties set up thaneer pandals

Local units of political parties are vying with each other to set up decorated thaneer pandals ( drinking water counters) in street corners or off the main roads.

There is a need for these pandals what with summertime peaking in the days ahead.

But cadres of parties use the occasion to not only feature visuals and banners of their leaders but also of local leaders of the units. At some pandals we came across Mylapore, some money has been spent to decorate the pandals and put up flag masts. And in some areas these pandals are close to each other, vying for visibility too.

These pandals can be seen across R A Puram, Mylapore and off the Marina.

At some pandals, volunteers offer buttermilk at certain hours.
