If seniors want vaccination at home from civic body staff, register at 1913

When senior citizen and former senior executive of an oil company, R. V. Rao of Abhiramapuram wanted to take the vaccination against Corona recently, he looked for a way to get this done at his residence.

This because he and his wife are seniors. And there were a few other seniors in the apartments who were willing to take the booster dose if it was given at home.

Rao chanced on the area’s GCC sanitary inspector Muthuratnavel who was on his rounds and asked if he could arrange a house visit by a GCC nurse. The civic staff arranged for this in days.

Help came from the local Urban Health Centre. Two nurses arrived and administered the vaccines.

Said Rao, “We greatly appreciate the help that the GCC staff offered. And all this is done free of cost.”

Staff at the Health Centre on C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet say that seniors can avail of home services for vaccination by calling the GCC Helpline – 1913. The messages are passed on to local centres for action.

The staff say they do not have local contacts to share for this facility but administer vaccines everyday, at the centre and at home for seniors.
