Traffic diversion in Alwarpet for drains works: residents say inner streets are choked now

Residents of colonies located off the west side of C V Raman are bothered that traffic diverted into the smaller inner streets due to storm water drain work is causing problems here.
Dr Muralidharan of Bheemana Gardens says “the traffic diversion arrangement is creating lot of hardships  to the residents living in our area, Ananda Road and B M Garden Street. These roads are for residential purposes and not broad enough to take the high volume traffic. Specifically BM Garden Street has a school and it is a shopping place for the people of this area. So it is always crowded and there is high risk of accident at any time.”
He suggests that traffic diversion can be made via the unused road under the flyover – it being opened for traffic going from C P Ramaswamy Road to reach the TTK Road at Alwarpet junction.
‘The traffic coming from the  flyover and under the flyover can be diverted via Abhiramapuram 4th Street and  St Marys Road  to reach TTK Road. This will avoid the chaotic traffic choking the inner streets.’, he notes.
He said he was trying to reach the Joint Commissioner of Police – Traffic to brief him  of the problems and suggestions but the calls have not been connected.
