Rishabha vahanam procession at the annual ten-day Vaikasi utsavam festival at Velleeswarar Temple in Mylapore was a grand spectacle.
As it began to make its way from the temple after 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, the large gathering of people feasted their eyes on something new – the silver plated vahanam, created for this year with handsome donations.
The fest is being celebrated grandly after a break of two years due to the pandemic.
Highlights of the festival ahead – the chariot procession at 7am on June 11 and Thiru Kalyanam will take place between 8pm and 9.30pm on June 14.
From June 16, are concerts in the evening at the temple premises.
