Following the Pradosham event on Monday evening, the first of the four Kaalam Yaaga Salai pooja will begin at the Sri Kapaleeswarar temple as part of the Pavitrotsavam, referred to in Tamil as Perum Shanthi Vizha.
The second and third Kaalam Yaaga Saalai pooja will take place on Tuesday morning and evening while the fourth and final Kaalam pooja will take place on Aani Pournami on Wednesday.
The Pavitrotsavam is conducted once a year at this temple to cleanse the sins that may have occurred and any shortcomings to the Lord in the previous year.
All the Lords of the temple will be anointed with pavitra maalai as part of the Pavitrotsavam.
