Chess Olympiad matches telecast at Nageswara Rao Park

Chess Olympiad matches are now being telecast ‘live’ on a LED screen at the Chess Square at the rear of Nageswara Rao Park.

The telecast starts at 3 p.m. and will be on till late night, we are told. Till August 10.

On Saturday, while a few people watched the games, a few others meditated, read or relaxed. Elsewhere, groups ran dance training classes and walkers went about their routine.

The Chess Square, designed when Sundaram Finance took charge of the park as its CSR project, has cement-mortar stools and round tables on which chess squares are set in, though they are dulled now.

A chess tourney is held here during the annual Mylapore Festival ( in mid January) wholly supported by Sundaram Finance.
