TourEx 2022, a two-day exhibition and cultural festival kicks off this morning at Queen Mary’s College, Mylapore. It co-incides with World Tourism Day celebrations.

This event is hosted by QMC’s Department of Geography and Tourism and is back after a two-year break due to the pandemic.

Kalpana Siva, faculty at this department says, “This year theme is ‘Rethinking Tourism’, based on current developments in the industry.”

Students have prepared charts, models and handicrafts related to current themes and will display them at the Golden Jubilee hall.

There is also an Indian costume parade and snappy Indian dances on stage besides a nook highlighting Indian cuisine.

College principal Uma Maheswari says that such events challenge students on local themes and get them involved in subjects they study in the classroom.

TN Tourism, via TTDC is a key collaborator in this year’s event and its MD, IAS officer Sandeep Nanduri is a guest at the Sept.28 event.
