Inter-parish carols contest peps up Christmas mood at this R. A. Puram church

Christmas carols, in English and Tamil, some hugely popular, some less known swirled in the campus of Our Lady of Guidance Parish in R A. Puram on December 4.

The 26th edition of CHRISCAR, an inter-parish carol competition was held in the church campus and it was hosted by Guidance Friends, the youth group of the parish under the guidance of the parish priest Fr. Y. F. Bosco.

Thirteen teams took part. There were three judges – Fr M A Joe and playback singers Krithika and Srivardhini. The judges were arranged by choirmaster X. Paulraj.
This show commenced with a song rendered by the children’s choir of the host parish led by Jerry Marshall and Mercy Jerry.
The first place was bagged by the choir of Annai Velankanni Shrine, Besant Nagar. The second place went to Mary Help of Christians Church, Basin Bridge while the third place was won by the choir of San Thome Basilica.
Sam Lawrence from Annai Velankanni Shrine, won the Vimal Award for the best instrument player.
The chief guest for the evening was music director Dhina.
The president of Guidance Friends , Kinsley Immanuel said that this event is conducted every year to raise funds for charity. This event  showcases the talents of the youth of city churches.
