A few temples in Mylapore timed their Karthigai Deepam festival celebration with the prime ritual in Tiruvannamalai.
At Sri Apparswamy Temple, on R. H. Road, there was a steady stream of people at the temple which was decorated with electric lights as well as dozens of earthen oil lamps.
As the procession of the deities took place in side the campus, the ritual of burning the chokka panai was held.
