Elections 2024: model code kicks in, political graffiti, signs being covered, blanked out

With elections to the Lok Sabha announced and polling to be held in Tamil Nadu on April 19, the model code of conduct has kicked in.

Public walls in the Mylapore zone, advertising politicians or meetings, are being white-washed.

At the Mylapore’s MLA office on C P Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet, workers used cloth to cover the sign and name boards here – though its unclear why a sign board mentioning a local MLA’s name and office location, which is public information, must be blanked out.
