Music Academy chooses Geetha Raja for Sangita Kala Acharya award

Alwarpet-based Carnatic music vocalist and teacher Geetha Raja has been chosen for the Sangita Kala Acharya award given by the Music Academy, Madras.

Geetha had her initial training in music in Bombay where she grew up,  under guru Bombay Ramachandran. Later, she was a sishya of guru T. Brinda under whom she learnt the vast repertoire of music of the Veena Dhanammal school.

She has been performing and teaching music.

This and other awards will be presented on January 1. 2025 at the sadas of the Academy’s conference and music festival.

  1. The Music Academy should rethink and withdraw the proposed award to TMKrishna . The Academy must stop playing political games.
