Surgeon murder case of 2013 in R. A. Puram: new twist at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has set aside a Madras High Court in the case related to the murder of Dr. Subbiah near Billroth Hospitals, R. A. Puram in Sept. 2013.

The High Court had reversed a decision of the trial court that gave death penalty to seven and life imprisonment to two others. The High Court had acquitted all the accused. The Supreme Court has ruled that all accused serve life imprisonment..

The well-known neuro-surgeon, after his consultation at Billroth, had walked to a local street to his car when he was set upon by a gang and stabbed. He passed away some days later.

A dispute over a property in Kanyakumari is said to have provoked the accused.
