One of Mylapore’s well-known jewellers, Ashok Kumar (68), the founder of Raghavendra Jewellers passed away on July 7.
His shop is located on C. P. Koil Street.
Kumar started his career by running a silver-smith store in 1986, carrying forward his father’s diamond jewels legacy.
The exquisite temple jewellery his artisans created adorned the deities at Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore and in Sri Anjaneyar Raghavendra Mutt, Sundareswarar Street and at Raghavendra Mutt, Dr. Ranga Road.
Kumar was the quintessential traditional jeweller – warm in welcoming customers, listening to their ideas and needs and catering to their likes.
His family resides in C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet. He is survived by wife, a daughter and a son.
