A street side park developed by Chennai Corporation was formally opened recently in Mandavelipakkam by local ward councillor Amirda Varshini.
This thin strip of green lies alongside the wall of St Anthony’s Girls HS School, on East Circular Road.
The walls have been thematically painted with visuals, there are many plants and some playthings too.
The park allows children to walk and play inside while people can stop by and relax.
There are no walk tracks here.
The school has agreed to maintain the park.
Residents of this area had been asking for such a facility to prevent misuse of this public space, said a resident of this street.
