Mela on solar systems for houses, apartments, offices. Aug.16, Alwarpet

Citizen Consumer & Civic Action Group (CAG), a NGO based in Alwarpet, is organising a Solar Power Systems Mela on Sunday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at C.P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.

Present at this day-long meet will be solar system vendors and experts and officials of leading banks and of TANGEDCO.

Representatives of these groups will guide people to appreciate and understand the latest in rooftop solar systems available to them, all the state and private schemes that support this venture and the financing options besides focussing on a few examples of bungalows and apartments which have made good use of solar power.

CAG staff say that if your power bill is high, a roof-top solar panel system could cut it by up to 90%.

They say that residents in large apartments who pay stiff bills for use of common services  like campus and indoor spaces lighting, working pumps and powering lifts, can reduce electricity costs by up to two-thirds.

“Costs on installing solar systems may seem stiff  but the payback can be enjoyed in 4 to 6 years,” said CAG’s S. Muthukumar. ” These systems are good for use for 20/25 years.”

At this Mela, visitors will be briefed on government schemes and subsidies on offer to those who install solar systems.

Besides CAG,  Asar Social Impact Advisors & Poovulagin Nanbargal are supporting this mela.

Entry is free to this event.
