On the occasion of Adi Amavasai, people headed to the pavement alongside R. K. Mutt Road and the tank of Sri Kapali Temple to take part in rituals to remember those who have moved on in life.
Rituals began at the stroke of dawn and continued well past 10 a.m.
Police were posted in this zone to regulate traffic and the crowd.
