Queen Mary’s College celebrates Madras Day

The Department of Historical Studies, Queen Mary’s College celebrated Madras Day on August 24. 

Inter-departmental competitions including a quiz and Pictionary were held.

Dr. N. Kalaivani, college principal, graced the formal event and distributed the prizes.

Antiques collector John Moses who is based in Kilpauk Garden and is known for his unique collection of cycles and oil lamps, displayed a small selection of his antiques which were used in the colonial times in the Madras presidency – clocks and oil lamps, watches and pens, toys and cameras and household utilities.

A few girls displayed old coins and household items of the past.

The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. M. Raziya Parvin, head of the department
