MYLAPORE TIMES has announced a contest in connection with the celebration of Sri Vinayaka Chaturthi. It is asking Mylaporeans to make a eco-umbrella ( kodai) for the lord.
Here are some tips youi may follow to make your kodai stand out and win the top prize.
1. Use only simple, waste materials at home – paper shopping bags, cardboard, cloth pieces, thread / beads, newspaper sheets, etc.
2. Use your creative ideas to make little bells / flowers/ rings from waste and decorate the umbrella.
3. Entries will be judged for best use of recyclable materials, creativity and neatness.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY
– Shoot and Submit TWO Photos shot from different angles – of the umbrella – show us all its features especially of they are tiny.
– Mail the photos (do not send attachment file) to us – in 2 lines tell us the materials used. Mention your name, full address and phone numbers. Mail to [email protected]. (Mention ‘KODAI’ in email’s subject line). This makes it easy for us to segregate them.

Mail your entry by Sept.14, 12 noon. Contest is open only for Mylapore families. Prizes and gifts will be delievred.
