Former union minister Jairam Ramesh was the chief guest at the silver jubilee celebrations of the C. P. R. Enviromental Education Centre which is based on Eldams Road, Alwarpet. The event was held on Tuesday.
Two books were released on this occasion. One on the Sacred Groves in India and ‘ Green Pilgrimage for a Clean India’.
A city school – N. S. N. Matric School – which lays great emphasis on the environment and educates students on nature and good practices was recognized with an award on this occasion.
Wellknown scientist Dr M S Swaminathan was also a guest at this event. Nanditha Krishna is the honorary director of the Centre.
