Natya Vizha and competitions on guru Dr. Rukmini Ramani’s compositions

Sivan Fine Arts Academy and Shivanugraha Trust Committee will be conducting two events on Dr. Rukmini Ramani’s compositions during the next few weeks.

The first, which will be held in collaboration with Dr. MGR Janaki College, R. A. Puram is a special ‘Natya Vizha’ to be held from June 24 – 27 at the college premises. The event will be inaugurated on June 24 by guru Dr. T. V. Gopalakrishnan. CDs and a book ‘Shivastuthi’ will be released. The students of the department of ‘Natya’ at the college will present a dance performance titled ‘Margham’. This will be followed by a grand dance opera ‘ Thanthondri Perumal Puranam’ by Shiva Kalalayam Academy. The valedictory function will be held on June 27.

The second is a music and dance competition which will be held on July 10 at P. S. School, Mylapore.

Both the competitions are open to children aged 8 years and above. The Tambura competition is open to all. Group competitions will also be held for groups consisting of 4 – 8 participants for the music competition and 5 participants for the dance competition. Prizes for the same will be distributed during the 15th annual music and dance festival to be held at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet on Aug 28.
