Diamond studden gold crown for Karpagambal

A gold kreedam (crown) to adorn for the image of goddess Karpagambal at the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple was recently donated by a devotee and well wisher.

The NRI who wishes to remain anonymous handed over this gift during the recent Panguni festival at the temple.

It adorned the deity during the thirukalyana utchavam.

This unique kreedam was made by Sukra Jewellery of Mylapore.

It is hand crafted out of solid 22 carat gold weighing around 1.2 kilograms and studded with over 840 diamonds weighing close to 34 carats.

Also used are semiprecious ruby cabochons and a large synthetic green stone in the centre.

The total value of the crown is about Rs.45 lakhs.

Sukra’s proprietors say that it took their artisans three months to complete this work.
