An awareness program on ‘Transit of Venus 2012’ will be held at Marina beach near Gandhi Statue on May 27 at 5 p.m.
This is organised by Breakthrough Science Society, Tamilnadu Chapter for popularising the historic and scientific significance of the forthcoming astronomical event: The Transit of Venus (ToV) across the Sun on June 6.
They will be demonstrate methods of observing the event using simple tools and what children can note for making simple science calculations while observing the event.
A public viewing of the event, using telescopic projection and sun filters will be arranged on June 6.
The venue for this will be announced later.
