COURSES

Complementary library membership is offered to every student who enrols in the Grammar Smart programme, an certificate course in English skills for school children. This is conducted by Small Talk along with The ilovereadin Library.  It is spread over six weekends. Management-Labour Academy in association with Sriraksha Counselling and Mediation Centre, an NGO is organising weekend courses on “Labour law one should know for benefit of small scale industries and traders” and ‘the role of counselling and mediation in family matters’ for a fee. Experts in the field will conduct the course. Theatre Y is starting funtY 6, a six months program of acting for children. It will be conducted by Yog Japee and his team of trainers. funtY 6 will culminate in a public production “funtYpuri- a Chatpata Churmur for  Children”. MUSIC

“Forever pancham”, a live musical and audiovisual tribute to R. D. Burman, will be held on June 30. This will be held at 7 p.m. at The Music Academy. Singers like Hrishikesh Ranade, Jitendra Abhyankar, Priyanka Barve, Savani Ravindra and Swapnaja Lele will perform in the occasion. Carnatica and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha is organising the TVH Bhakti Sangeet Utsav. The festival will be held at Narada Gana Sabha from July 2 to 7. Anugraha Bashanam by Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj- Adyaksha, Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Mylapore will be held at the inauguration. Chinmaya Sisters will present a recital to commence the festival and this will be followed by a spiritual discourse by Suki Sivam on the topic ‘Kalayum Kadavulum’. There will concerts every day. PLAY

A Tamil stage play “Aaha! Enna Porutham”, will be staged on June 30 at Mylapore Fine Arts Club. It will be held from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. This is presented by “Shrishti” under the auspices of Kartik Fine Arts. Open to all.

MEDICAL CAMP

Durgabai Deshmukh General Hospital and Research Centre is conducting a free Geriatric check-up camp for senior citizens (above 55 years), from June 30 to July 31 except Sundays. TALK

DEBATE

A pattimandram on the title ‘Bakthiyil sirandhadu yaar? Hanumana.? Seethaya?’ will be held on June 30 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Starts at 10 a.m. The chief guest will be Arandhai Manian. Passes will be available at the venue from 8.30 a.m. onwards.

DVD RELEASE

A DVD titled ‘Brindamma: Beyond Music’ (Sanskrit Series) will be released on July 2 at 6 p.m. at Sivagami Pethachi auditorium, MCTM School, Luz. The DVD is a documentation of the life and music of the legend, T. Brinda. This is written and directed by S. B. Khanthan. It will be released by Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Chairman of Kalakshetra. The documentary will be screened at 6.45 p.m.
