The Waitrose chain of supermarkets will open soon in San Thome. A ground floor shop space is being readied to house the supermarket. Waitrose stores are already functioning on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai and in Alwarpet in this part of the city.
The new store is close to Dooming Kuppam Road. On Sunday, workers were seen unloading the stocks at the store while the large signboards were being given a final touch.
The store is open from early to 11 p.m. and the location chosen indicates that the store, which has its roots in the UK will target the upscale colonies of MRC Nagar and San Thome.
