If you are travelling to the north side of the city along the Marina beach road on August 15 morning it is advisable to avoid this road and take the central city roads.
This is because the flag hoisting event for the Independence Day celebrations are taking place at Fort St George and traffic on a large section of the Marina road will be regulated and there will be a stream of VIP traffic headed for the event.
Though traffic from the San Thome and Mylapore areas to this road is not cut off, it is advisable to take the roads through Mandaveli and Alwarpet if you need to travel north on August 15, till about 10 am.
