Ration shops across the neighbourhood have been busy hubs since morning as news spread that the state’s Pongal gift – Rs.1000 and a sari/dhoti would be given to all ration card holders.
A gift hamper is also to be given.
The queues at ration shops got bigger as the morning progressed and local police were stationed to manage the crowd.
