Soil testing works at a few points on the Marina have begun on the Chennai Metro rail project proposed in the next phase.
Planned ahead is a Metro line that will start at the Marina – Queen Mary’s College junction and run across the city to the western side.
Workers are seen at a few places on the lawns of the Marina which have been barricaded and drilling is on for soil testing.
These tests will help engineers and planners realise the nature of the earth below and shape their plan for the underground line.
