Cash of Rs.5 lakhs approx seized by police on election duty

Two days ago, cash amounting to some Rs.5 lakhs was seized from a person carrying it by officials on poll duty near the Saibaba Temple in Mylapore..

The officials belonged to the teams which work with local police in conducting checks of vehicles for unaccounted cash or jewellery or materials to be used as part of election campaigns

Later, a policeman stationed at the Mylapore tahsildar’s office said that the man from whom the currency was seized claimed he was carrying it for local banks. But he could not explain how a man on a bike could c arry cash meant for banks.
