Fish thrive in this temple tank

There is a beautiful sight to behold – of the tank of Sri Madhava Perumal Temple in Mylapore.

If you are here when it rains, the rush and flow of rainwater down the steps and into the tank is a treat, more so now that this tank is well maintained and a visual delight.

You will also get to see fish darting here and there.

Some months ago, well after the tank was relaid when R. Nataraj was the local MLA, a devotee of the temple donated fish fingerlings to be dropped into the tank. Now, the fish look healthy and big.

But the temple staff must ensure that temple visitors do not throw snacks into the tank just to amuse themselves; this affects the fish and pollutes the tank.
