Elections to city council: BJP state president makes brief stop to campaign

The final push in urban bodies election campaigning is on.

At noon time this Thursday, a BJP caravan carrying its state president, Annamalai drove into Mylapore from the south side and made a five-minute stop at the R K Mutt Road / Mada Street junction where the party’s state leader made a snappy speech.

Alongside him was a woman candidate and surrounding the van were two dozen flag-bearing party cadres.

There was a traffic jam for those minutes that Annamalai spent here before he sped away to his next campaign stop.

The BJP has put up many candidates in the Mylapore zone where most wards are reserved for women.
