Chennai Metro: Kamal Hassan’s property required for station, notice sent

Chennai Metro has sent a notice to film personality Kamal Hassan, seeking a portion of his property in Alwarpet to be used for work on the rail line and the station proposed in this area.

Kamal used to have his office here; the old bungalow made way for a new one which also has other stores.

But there is some confusion on CMRL’s info – while CMRL mentions the property being on Bharathidasan Road, Kamal’s office campus is on TTK Road, diagonally opposite Ethiraj Kalyana Mantapam.

The rail line runs from the Luz side into Alwarpet, with a station near the temple and moves south along TTK Road, with a station at Bharathidasan Road junction and then moves further, with a station near Hotel Crowne Plaza.

There were many objections raised by property owners in the C V Raman – TTK Road – Bharatidasan Road zone when CMRL first put out the plans, with some saying there was no need for a station. CMRL later said that only small slices of plots would be accquired.
