Dubba Chetty moves out of Kutcheri Road after 137years, opens in North Mada Street

After 137 years of business on Kutchey road, the popular Dubba Chetty Shop has moved to North Mada Street near Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple.

The move follows the disruption caused by the preliminary work n Chennai  Metro rail on Kutchery Road, necessitating the relocation of shops there.

75 year old KS Rajaraman came all the way from Seethammal Colony on Monday morning to buy traditional medicines at the new location.

He told Mylapore Times that he has been shopping at Dubba Chetty for over six decades “This location on North Mada Street is very convenient, easily accessible and is likely to find acceptance among their customers.”

Another long standing customer said that he had visited the shop on Kutchery Road last week and was given a slip intimating the move to this new location.

Next Gen owner of this business in native medicines, Krishna said that they have updated the new address on Google Maps and handed out change of address slips to all customers who visited them last week so they are put to least inconvenience.

He said that customers have been slowly trickling in to the new shop which is almost the same size as the old one.

He said that clients who visit the Kapaleeswarar Temple have followed up with a trip to the shop now that it is closeby.
