Mahali kizhangu is on sale by a few hawkers on South Mada Street, Mylapore.
It is a root vegetable and used to make a delicious pickle.
Already, hawkers selling it on this street say that their customers who enjoy making pickles have bought the root as soon as the stock arrived, sourced from the Koyembedu market.
Kavitha, a hawker who sits outside the Mylapore Hindu Permanent Fund Office says that making this pickle is simple and this purifies the blood; she even shares her pickle recipe with people who stop to enquire.
The price ranges between Rs.400 – 500 per kilo.
