Mylapore Festival: music and dance concerts on open-air stage in temple zone. Day one evening.

Grey clouds hovered above Sri Kapali Temple on Thursday evening as the lights came on, focussed on the open-air stage in front of the multi-pillared mantap outside the east side of the temple.

The evening programmes of the 2023 edition of Sundaram Finance MYLAPORE FESTIVAL were unfolding, with a delightful villupattu concert by students of Besant Arundale School located in Kalakshetra campus.

It did not rain and in the pleasant evening, as Sannithi Street quadrangle filled up, a dance-drama by Tamil Isai Kalloori students and a dance medley by Kala Sadhanalaya followed.

The procession from the temple though led to a cancellation of the nagaswaram concert, but these artistes will open the stage shows on the weekend.

Elsewhere, the Food Street drew a huge crowd and so did the East Tank Street zone, where SHG women are selling their own products at the Bazaar on all four evenings.

The Fest kicked off with a concert in Nageswara Rao Park, Luz; it is held on all four mornings of till Sunday.

And sale of souvenirs – T-shirts, kolam wall art, kolam bags and Mylapore ink illustrations – are on at the Festival Info Counter opposite Rasi store.
