This inter-church carols contest in R. A. Puram created a musical evening despite wet weather

The 27th edition of Chriscar, an inter-parish carols competition was conducted by Our Lady of Guidance Parish on December 3 evening at the Saint Lazarus hall.

Seven choirs belted out popular carols, all in Tamil, and when the curtains were drawn, it was about 10 p.m.

Despite the wet weather, a goodly number of people attended the show.

Seven teams took part in the event. Due to the heavy rain, the number of teams were less this year.
There were three judges for the event – Fr. Dr. S. Raja, Yazhini, and S.P. Sundar.
The first prize was bagged by the team from San Thome Cathedral, the second place went to Annai Velankanni Shrine, Besant Nagar and the choir of St. Joseph’s Church from Erunkencherry  won the third prize.
The Vimal Award for the best instrumentalist went to Sachin from San Thome Cathedral.
This year, the host parish introduced two awards – for best youth of the year, (male / female of the parish). These were presented to Joaquim and Arthi respectively.
The entire event was organised by the youth group of the parish named Guidance Friends led by its president Kevin V. J. under the guidance of parish priest Fr. Y. F. Bosco.
