Chennai Metro: R. A. Puram work site is a thick dust zone, affects pedestrians and motorists

For weeks now, the Chennai Metro work site at the end of Brodies Road and mouth of R K Mutt Road in R A Puram has turned into a dust zone. And Metro is taking half-hearted measures to save motorists and pedestrians of dust pollution.

Every day, mud / earth is moved out of this site. by dozens of lorries: this mud is being dug out during the underground boring work and moved out of this site which was once a busy GCC playground.

Though this work is done at night, the entire area and the road/streets are laden with dust.

The heavy traffic during peak hours kicks up dust clouds all around, said two motorits who take this route to go to work and return home.

Contractors of Chennai Metro are not seen clearing the layers of dust that gathers alongside the walls and on the road side.
