Panguni festival of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple: lagna patrikai ceremony held

The annual Panguni festival of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple has been formally announced at a religious event held this Feb.19 evening with the reading of the Lagna Patrika.

Traditional rituals were performed before the reading; it all started with a long abhishekam.

Lots of fruits, milk, curd, paneer water and sandal powder and bilva, gooseberry and rice powders, panchamirtham and lots more were used to perform the abhishekam.

A priest here said that they made 14 varieties of flower garlands , some made from elakai, apples and sweet lime and oranges besides kanakambaram flowers.

The lagna patrikai was read by the chief priest.

The lagna patrika includes the dates and times at which the rituals / celebrations will be held in March this year.
